What is the best type of strings for an acoustic electric?
ELIXIR POLYWEB lights?
Help!
That depends a lot on the style of playing. My personal favorite brand are D'Addario. I tend to play fingerstyle with some light strumming, so I use a light guage string. If you're more into the heavy strumming, use a heavier string (medium guage at least).
Edit: I've never used Elixir strings, but I would worry about the coating affecting the crispness of the sound. For electric guitars, where the pickup can sense the vibration through the coating, this probably doesn't make a difference. But for an acoustic, I don't want anything coming between my strings and my guitar's body that will affect the transfer of sound. I may be wrong -- they may be worth a try if they can sound as good and last longer.
