Electric==>accoustic?
Made the kerlassic mistake of starting out with electric, what's done is done. After three years of going pretty much nowhere, blues came back and hit me in the face and made me realise how much I need the accoustic. Anyone got any advice to make the switch, any finger muscling exercises, effective ways of starting out on the accoustic (other than theory)?
Thanks
Don't lose too much sleep about this whole thing, i have been playing and teaching on both for years and have a degree in jazz studies on guitar and I can tell you they are almost identical. The strings on an acoustic are typically a little heavier and a little higher off the neck, but it sort of feels like playing an electric with a really slow neck. Make the change, play what you normally play on your new acoustic and I would be shocked if you don't feel confident on it by the end of the month.

What is the best guitar for a first time lessons student wanting to play ?
Should i get acoustic or electric? which is easier to play!!
In my experience, electric was much easier to learn on. My parents made me learn on this huge classical acoustic and it was very difficult for a thirteen year old girl to get her fingers around the neck! A good beginer's guitar is the Squier strat.A lot like its parent model, Fender, it's much cheaper. They're easy to play, the action isn't too high on the neck so you don't have to press the strings too hard.
And, most music store will offer packge deals on "starter sets" that usually feature a practice amp, gig bag, cable, and of course the guitar. Good luck learning to play- it's really easy, and you never stop getting better!

can you get the same sound from a hollow-body guitar as u can with a acoustic electric?
I pretty much asked my question above so, if you have any in-site it would be greatly appreciated.
Not really. A hollow body electric is an electric guitar at heart, while an acoustic electric is an acoustic guitar at heart. Most significantly, the acoustic electric uses a piezo pickup under the saddle to faithfully reproduce the acoustic sound. The hollow body electric has standard magnetic pickups for the characteristic electric sound. They are two different sounds.

Which guitar should I choose between Taylor and Martin?
I've been playing the guitar for about a year (self taught myself through online guitar tutorials). I'm about to take a guitar class next month. I'm going to be carrying the guitar up the bus and down the subway everyday. So two guitars were recommended for me but I can't decide! I want something that can survive the hectic public transportation I will go through. Which guitar do you recommend? Thanks and Merry Christmas!!
Taylor: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Taylor-Baby-Taylor-Mahogany-Top-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=514967
Martin: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Martin-LX1-Little-Martin-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=514512
I vote the Martin... if you get the Taylor you linked, you'll look too big for the gutair (unless you're about 10), as it's only 3/4 the size of a normal gutair... which is only good if you want to look like a clown! Seriously though... the sound won't be very strong on a baby gutair.
Although the Martin is small, it doesn't look like it would be too small - just travelly and portable. Martins are supposed to last really well, too.

how to make guitar effects built in/ pedal?
i am makeing my own guitar and would like build in some kind of effects is there any easy and cheap way to do this i would like some kind of distortion of maybe delay. if not how do you make an effects pedal?
In you want an onboard effect consider that back in the day Electra Guitars made some MPC models that had small carts you plugged in the back of the guitar body. That way you could access two different effects at the same time. There were plenty of different effect carts to choose from that gave you a variety of combos. If you could find a trashed MPC guitar and gut it to put in your guitar that would be easier than building something from scratch.
Try to find a Yahoo News group on this subject. News groups have lots of people who love to share their Knowledge !
.
I listed web links that might be use full if you are going to build your own effects Stomp box from scratch
Have fun and best of luck to you!
