Digital Switchover Delay Presents Opportunities to Subscribe to Satellite
With Congress and the president pushing the date of the digital switchover to June 12, 2009, this is buying more time for people who do not have a pay television service to decide what they are going to do. While many people may consider buying the digital converter box, this is the perfect time to investigate subscribing to satellite television, which already provides its programming in full digital picture and sound. Many people who have never considered getting a pay TV subscription are now considering satellite as a viable and affordable means to getting uninterrupted service on the day the digital switchover occurs. While there may be several months before the switch occurs thanks to the delay, there is no time like the present to investigate the introductory offers and subscription deals that are currently available to new subscribers.
On June 12, all television stations will be required to switch from broadcasting in an analog signal to a digital signal. For viewers that already have a satellite subscription, they will not notice a difference and the transition will be transparent. For viewers that still rely on an antenna to get their broadcast signals, they will be required to purchase a special converter box in order to continue getting their favorite broadcasting channels. While this is certainly an option, many viewers who never considered getting a satellite subscription are investigating satellite television for the first time. What they are finding out is they will have a multitude of programming options along with special features that are just not available with broadcast television. If they have been put off by price, they will find that out of all the pay television options, satellite television is the most affordable and accessible in terms of price.
Satellite television has a variety of packages that are affordable at any level and offers a diverse range of programming from basic service to premium movie channels and season ticket sports programming. This is all delivered in a superior digital picture and sound. People who do not have satellite will be surprised as just how clear and crisp the picture is and how many programming options they have available even with the most basic service. If you add on a premium package, you have the opportunity to see many movies on channels such as Showtime, HBO and Starz. Satellite providers are very keen on getting new subscribers and many offer a free three month trial of these premium channels as an incentive to subscribe. Once people discover the wide range of movies and original programming on these channels, they may want to continue subscribing to them because of their high quality and entertainment value.
With the digital switchover now slated for June, there is still time to take advantage of special introductory offers that satellite providers are offering new subscribers. These offers include free installation and equipment as part of the package. In addition, many are offering an upgrade to a free digital video recorder when you initially subscribe. This makes subscribing worth it because you can record up to 70 hours of programming on this recorder and play back your favorite shows at your convenience. With all of these incentives, it may be hard for potential subscribers to turn down subscribing to satellite and opening up to a whole new world of programming. The digital switchover presents the perfect opportunity to upgrade your entire television experience by subscribing to satellite television.
Why sound delay occurs when I watch TV through my PC?
Here is the detail. I got Gateway PC a year ago. It came with Windows media center and TV tuner. When I hooked up, I could see the tv, but there is a delay sound. It is pretty annoying. Is this means that my computer is not good enough?? How can I fix? Do you think my memory is not enough? I got only 512mb. That is why??Windows Vista will fix this problem??? Or should I get digital Cable instead? But, I thought even analog cable would work great.
It sounds like a connection feedback problem and Vista is not going to fix it. A restore point will if you can go back before it started.

The Canon Sure Shot Digital camera is one of the very best cameras available for the amateur photographer. It can help them to get started in the world of photography without throwing too many things aperture settings and shutter priority at them.
is there always a delay on digital cameras btwn time shutter is pushed & photo taken?
Seems digital cameras have a delayed reaction taking a photo from time I push shutter til a second later when photo is actually taken. My camera is on fine setting & has 10 megapixels. (Canon sureshot). How is flash involved with this? Camera is less than a year old.
By way of explaining what's really going on. All automatic cameras, which digital cameras are, have what's called shutter lag.
This lag time allows the camera to focus and expose. This procedure, though very fast, isn't instant, can't and won't happen. Without this time all your photos would be out of focus (fuzzy) and either over or under exposed.
Get the drift? perhaps some reading on how automatic cameras work would be in order.

Everything About Moog Synthesizers
The range of Moog synthesizers was invented by Dr. Robert Moog around 1966. These synthesizers are large modular ones with quite a few distinct modules connected together by several patch cords, which would route sounds created by oscillators through a set-up of filters and effects. This structure enables the instrument to provide unprecedented flexibility in sound design thereby making the Moog Synthesizer an icon of electronic music culture.
In this decidedly digital age, more and more contemporary musicians and rockers are rediscovering the analog sounds of the Moog synthesizer. Dr. Robert Moog, the inventor started the company Moog Music, initially known as R.A. Moog Co. that manufactured and marketed these synthesizers.
The first Moog instruments were modular synthesizers. In 1971 Moog Music began production of the Minimoog Model D that was among the first extensively available, handy and relatively inexpensive synthesizers. The Moog synthesizers were designed in collaboration with the composers Herbert A. Deutsch, and Wendy Carlos.
Another feather in the cap of the Moog range of synthesizers was the Taurus bass pedal synthesizer that came in 1975. Much like the organ pedals its pedals triggered synthetic bass sounds. The Taurus was known for a "fat" bass sound and was used by the bands Genesis, Rush, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Pink Floyd and many others. The modern version of it is known as the Taurus II.
According to the American Physical Society, "The first live performance of a music synthesizer was made by pianist Paul Bley at Lincoln Center in New York City on December 26, 1969. Bley developed a proprietary interface that allowed real-time performance on the music synthesizer."
The Moog synthesizer reached its first zenith of popularity in the late 1960s with the success of Carlos' Switched-On Bach. Actually Wendy Carlos's 1968 album "Switched-On Bach," a collection of synthesized interpretations of Bach classics, was the synthesizer's first commercial success, selling more than 1 million copies. It enthused other musicians and bands to follow suit and accordingly many albums tried to get the name of Moog incorporated into their album names as well, for example Country Moog Classics, Martin Denny's Exotic Moog, etc.
In the present day several Moog products can still be purchased, such as Moogerfoogers, Little Phatty, and Minimoogs. In fact the Minimoog is very popular as they sell for over US$3000 on online auction sites on a regular basis.
In spite of the fact that the Moog Music created so much uproar in the electronic music industry with the Moog synthesizer, yet it failed to survive for long. Later companies like the Arp and Roland took up the onus on themselves to continue in the lines of the Moog as they developed the instrument and came up with other prototypes. As days passed the Moog became all the more sophisticated and affordable.
The last Moog synthesizers were manufactured in 1985 before the original Moog Music declared bankruptcy in 1986. By the mid 1990s, analog synthesizers were again highly sought after and prized for their classic sound. In 2001, Robert Moog's company Big Briar was able to acquire the rights to the Moog name and officially became Moog Music. Moog Music has been producing the Minimoog Voyager modeled after the original Minimoog since 2002. As of 2006, more than 15 companies are making Moog-style synthesizer modules.
Moog MoogerFooger MF105B- Is it worth the cost?
Anyone have personal experience with this effect? Maybe a place around Chicago where I could actually try it out? Guitar Center won't stock it unless I put money down...
That's because Guitar Center Sucks!!! Seriously, you can hear some audio clips on the Moog site. It sound pretty cool to me, but I think I would try to nab a used one off of Ebay. That way you won't be out as much if you decide you don't like it and then resell it.
