Whats better in terms of sound Gibson SG Special or Gibson SG Standard. advice?
Im buying a new guitar on a small budget and im wondering if their is much difference in sound between the two, I dont care about bling bling and all that crap. Alot of people say that SG Specials suck because they dont have the chrome pickup covers, if I put on chrome pickup covers would it sound as good as the standard? Advice, Adivice?
If you can live without the trapezoid inlays, the SG Special is a damn good guitar. As for the covers, I actually think it muffles the sound a bit.

Startech Tuning Program for the New Jeep Commander

How can I get a softer mellower sound for my jazz guitar?
I want to change the puick-ups on my Epiphone Broadway guitar-a jazz box- I use D'Addario Chrome 10/11 gauge ribbon wound strings and would like suggestions about finding really mellow and soft sounding heads- I have been thinking about Seymour Duncan:
SJM-1 vintage for jazzmaster OR SP90-1 vintage soapbar. What do you think? Any other suggestions for a very mellow jazz sounding pick-up for a jazz guitar?
Try switching to flatwounds if you haven't; that'll definitely give you a warmer and mellower sound. Also, get yourself a nice amp. You can own a nice guitar and a crappy amp and sound terrible, but own a crappy guitar and anice amp and sound great. And if you don't already, use thicker picks.
