Tyne Bridge a Popular Monument in Newcastle
The historic Tyne Bridge which links the city of Newcastle to the nearby town of Gateshead is one that is etched in the hearts of the Newcastle people as a reminder of Tyneside’s wealthy industrial past. The Tyne Bridge as its names implies is built over the River Tyne, it was built by Dorman Long and Company of Middleborough the same company that built the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This bridge which is considered as being a fine exponent of a compression arch suspended deck bridge was declared open in 1928 by King George V.
Over time the Tyne Bridge has come to be seen as a symbol of Newcastle and locals consider it to be one of the most endearing monuments in the city, similar to what the Harbour Bridge is to Sydney. This bridge has the same “bowstring” design as the nearby Wylam Bridge and the more famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and the New York Bridge.
The history of the Tyne Bridge can be traced back to the Roman occupation of Britain; the earliest bridge to be built across the Tyne was Pons Aelius this bridge lasted a millennia and was replaced a much sturdier stone bridge in 1270. The idea of constructing a bridge at the present site was conceived much later and the first serious discussions began in the 1880’s. However it took more than 40 years for the plans to materialize and construction began for the new Tyne Bridge in 1925. The bridge was designed by architects Mott, Hay and Andersson who based their design on Hell Gate Bridge in New York. When it was completed the bridge spanned a distance of 389 meters and is about 60 meters above water level.
When the bridge was declared open in 1928, it was the largest single span bridge in the world. Such was the hype surrounding the bridge that local and regional residents flocked to the bridge in their vehicles ensuing several weeks of heavy traffic congestion, something which is still quite prevalent on Tyne Bridge. Being one of the entry points in to Newcastle, a Newcastle hotel can easily be found in the area.

Poulter Is Tired Of Game
Ian Poulter had victory in WGC-Accenture Match Play, he became the focus of public. It also proves that WGC-Accenture Match Play is wonderful without Tiger Woods( from Woods keeps no words on Match Play ). Ian Poulter keeps calm to accept the victory. How about him now?
In the immediate aftermath of his victory over Ryder Cup team-mate Paul Casey in Arizona on Sunday, Poulter admitted he was in two minds about competing this week.Titleist is famous golf brand, you can have it and improve your golf skill.
"I'm not sure yet. I'm supposed to be," the Englishman joked.
"I've got a feeling I might be quite tired." His exciting disappeared and golf clubs left him tired.
Poulter could not even afford much of a celebration at the weekend thanks to a 6.30am flight on Monday to record a television advert for one of his sponsors in California.
But the 34-year-old will still try to add a first strokeplay title on US soil to his match play victory at TPC Scottsdale, and will form the marquee group alongside world number three Phil Mickelson and Sony Open winner Ryan Palmer in the first two rounds.

After John Elway dies and enters the Pearly Gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows John a little two-bedroom house with a faded Broncos banner hanging from the front porch. "This is your house, John. Most people don't get their own houses up here," God says.
John looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one sitting on top of the hill. It's a huge two-story mansion with white marble columns and little patios under all the windows. Wisconsin flags line both sides of the sidewalk and a huge Green Bay Packers banner hangs between the marble columns.
"Thanks for the house, God, but let me ask you a question. I get this little two-bedroom house with a faded banners and Brett Favre gets a mansion with brand new Packers banners and flags flying all over the place. Why is that?"
God looks at him seriously for a moment, then with a smile, God says, "That's not Favre's house, it's mine."

When Length is an Issue - Try Extra Long Beds
Twin, full, queen & king are all terms we’re familiar with. These are the standard sizes used throughout the bedding industry and are typically the most available. For most folks queen & king size beds tend to be the most popular sizes not because of the width of these beds but because of the length. Queen and king size mattresses are 80 inches long or 6 feet 8 inches long. This works great for many homes but what about the individual who can’t fit a queen or king bed in the space. Twin and full sizes are less wide but not long enough for taller people who enjoy the length of the queen and king mattresses. Is there an alternative available? There is in the way of extra long beds.
Extra long beds exist for the simple purpose of taking a standard size like a twin or full size and making it longer for taller individuals. This used to be a custom size in the industry but many manufacturers are starting to offer bed frames and mattresses standard in XL bed sizes much to the delight of those who needed something as long as a queen bed but in the width of a twin or full size bed. These longer sizes are often referred to as twin xl, full xl or twin extra long and or full extra long bed sizes.
Standard twin size mattresses measure 39 inches by 75 inches long. When looking at a twin extra long mattress it will measure 39 inches by 80 inches long. Standard full size mattresses measure 54 inches by 75 inches long. Full size extra long mattresses will measure 54 inches by 80 inches long. Five inches of length may not seem like much to many of us but it’s quite a difference to someone who is 6 feet tall compared to someone who is 6 feet 6 inches tall.
Besides twin xl and full xl bed frames and mattresses another size exists that provides additional length above and beyond 80 inches. California king is another size considered extra long and varies somewhat from it’s standard king counterpart. Where as regular king mattresses measure around 76 inches by 80 inches long. California king mattresses measure 72 inches by 85 inches long. That length is 7 feet 1 inches long! More than enough length for the majority of us who are looking for a longer bed.
More often than not these longer sizes are accomplished by using longer rails with existing headboards. Some of these beds use a center support rail and this too is made longer in keeping with the length of the extra long side rails. California king beds however often require a different width headboard since the width between a standard king and a California king bed is off by about 4 inches. Some manufacturers can work around this by designing rails that can move in towards the correct width of the California king bed but often the headboard itself will be designed specifically for the cal king size.
In this article we examined what extra long beds are and who they can benefit the most. We discussed twin xl and full xl bed sizes and looked at the differences in dimensions from standard beds compared to extra long sizes. I also presented another option in this article referred to as California king or cal king size beds and mattresses. These provide a maximum bed length over 7 feet which puts it as the longest bed available in the standard bedding industry. Do you or someone you know have a difficult time finding beds that are the right length for you? If so, I hope you’ll consider some of the sizes I’ve mentioned in this article. You shouldn’t have to try to fit into a bed that isn’t right for you. Instead find the bed that was made to fit you the best so that you can start enjoying a great night’s sleep!
Will my twin sheets fit on an extra long twin mattress?
I have twin sheets that are 39" x 76" x 11"
I know that extra long twin mattresses are longer (4 inches longer than my bed sheets). Would it fit or just not work at all?
Yeah I've used twin sheets on my extra long twin bed at school. It will work, itz just not a perfect fit.
