WHAT acoustic guitar to buy:YAMAHA f335 or WASHBURN D9?
I am trying to buy a guitar to practice and learn on. I read very good reviews about YAMAHA f335 and icouldnt find much on WASHBURN D9 but the features on it seem nice and the price is discounted from $249 to $139. PLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE 1. Here are the fetures on both:
Yamaha f335
Body Style: Dreadnought acoustic
Top: Laminated spruce
Back: Meranti
Sides: Meranti
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Bridge: Rosewood
No. of frets: 20, 14 free
Pickguard: tortoise shell
Finish: gloss
Tuners: Gold Die-cast
Washburb D9:
Spruce top
Mahogany sides and back
Multi-lam binding
Mahogany neck
Rosewood fingerboard
20 frets
Rosewood butterfly bridge
Die-cast tuners with Ebonite buttons
Gloss finish
Thanks OnTheRock, one thing however, is that the washburn is also a laminated top ibelieve. Anything changes???
You're actually talking about a Washburn D9K. I'm not a huge Washburn fan, but $139 seems like a really good price for a solid spruce top and mahogany back & sides. If it plays nice, I guess I'd recommend that over the laminate Yamaha. You're really comparing a $250 guitar (the Washburn) to a $150 guitar (the Yamaha).

Impreza Body kits – Add More Style to Performance
The Subaru Impreza seems to have a niche market but is still an excellent choice for buyers who are looking for a buy in the compact car segment. The car's most notable feature is its power train which provides extra traction in slippery, wet-weather conditions. This feature, on higher horsepower models with the Impreza's well sorted chassis provides a very efficient and exhilarating handling of the car. The Impreza is powered by an unusual horizontally opposed four cylinder engine which emits a distinctive deep growl during acceleration. This is liked by many people who enjoy the sound of a powerful engine. All these features make it a great if not obvious choice for a new or used sedan, wagon or hatchback.
The current Subaru Impreza is available in a sedan or a four-door hatchback style. A more European flavor has been added to its design. The car is able to provide the driver with satisfying levels of good, enjoyable performance. It also is very reasonably priced compared to its competitors. All these factors make the Impreza a good road companion.
The Impreza is available in five trim levels each of which have their high points and unique features. But sometimes it so happens that you want more from your car and might not be fully satisfied with what the factory made version has to offer. To bridge the gap between your wants and the reality of your car you can make use of the Impreza body kits. Body kits give you the option of making modifications to the exterior of your car by adding parts like spoilers, grills, different lights and side skirting, to name a few. With the help of body kits there is a wide array of possible things that you can do with your car. This gives it a more personal feel to it and your car is able to reflect your unique tastes and style. Some body kt components such as a car spoiler will also enhance the aerodynamics of your car. This gives you the double benefit of improved style and improved performance.
By using the Impreza body kits you can transform your car in a cost efficient and hassle free manner. You can get creative with its look and have fun with it. To know more you can visit www.ilovebodykits.com.
is a 1 farad capacitor good enough for a 500W amp?
My car is an 09 mustang and appears to not like bridging my amp to 500W on my 12" kicker cvr, my sound system is the shaker 500 and the car also has heated seats, mood lights, etc to power. when i bridge the amp to 500w, the computer readings go haywire and my lights dim bad, also kills the battery pretty easily if the engines not running which forced me to only use 250w on one channel.. sounds like crap. i tapped into the rear speakers with an rca converter then ran an amp and sub to give it an good kick. i had my battery and alternator both tested and they read good. will a 1 farad capacitor stop the voltage drop issues?
cap's are near useless for car audio. they are nothing but a gimmick to get your money . google 'the big 3 ' and do that instead . it will work 10x better.
you need to check your wiring, you should not be having those type of problems with just 500 watts rms.

Replacing Pickups Professionally?
I have been saving money to buy new pickups for my strat (EMG S-X Active Single Coil, Seymour Duncan SJM-3 Quarter-Pound Jazzmaster, and Seymour Duncan SLS-1 Lipstick Tube). However, i have never replaced pickups on my own before. I have helped replacing passive pickups, but i dont know how to replace active pickups and im not sure if i want to risk screwing something up on my guitar. Can i take it to a GC or some other store in the Lancaster County, PA to get them replaced?
Hello, Dillon! Actually, any reputable music store with access to a qualified technician can replace the pickups; however, why not try it yourself? With the exception of finding room for the battery, the installations are typically well-defined by the manufacturer, and only require taking your time. Essentially, the electronics will either work or not work; the risk of screwing something up permanently is practically non-existent. Buy the pickups, review the instructions, then decide if you need to take it to Guitar Center. Best regards, Dana

R&P: Question for those of you that might have knowledge for this guitar problem?
Well, I have a little issue, or so I think. I just purchased a Fender Strat Standard today in white so I can eventually build it up and turn it into David Gilmour's 0001. My question though is:
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/closeup/099-1386-002--Main
That is the correct size of a pickguard to fit my Strat, but in order to complete the look of 0001, I need this pickguard that I will link below, which supposedly won't fit my guitar because it was made for a 57 Strat model.
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/099-2143-000/
So my question is, are 57 Strats and Standard Strats really that different, and would the gold pickguard fit my Standard Strat? Any help as usual would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Thanks Flatstick. Actually I'm also swapping out all standard pickups for a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 in the bridge and for an SSL-1 in both the middle and neck positions.
If it looks the same, order it. As the other answerer said, you can always cut it down or return it if it's wrong. I don't think it's going to do anything for you besides look prettier, but hey, that's your call.
I figured you would've gone for an SSL-3 in the bridge, but then again, if you're trying to copy David Gilmour...
You do know that there's far more than the guitar involved in the signal chain, right? I figured it would be worth a mention that if you don't have his exact signal chain (amp, pedals, mic's, mixers, and fingers!) it will be very difficult to pull it off exactly... but if you're looking to get close, then every bit counts, for sure.
I'm not knowledgeable enough in his tone to say exactly what pickups are best for you, but you seem to be pointed in a pretty good direction already.
Consider putting a preamp of some kind in your guitar, a la the Clapton mid mod. This can be a great way to get a solo tone right at your fingertips, some versatility as far as EQ goes, or even just a buffer for helping you run long lengths of cable without losing your high end (ie, tone sucking). There's a mod that can change the response curve of your pickups, it's a passive mod involving a rotary knob and a couple of capacitors, it could be useful in giving you some versatility beyond just whatever you have stock in the guitar... and may give you the sound you want without having to buy more expensive gear, mm?
Hmmm. Didn't David use an out of phase sound in some of those songs? Hold on, I'm curious now... okay, I've added a couple of links below, I googled "david gilmour wiring diagram" to find them.
Well, so much for the "no expensive gear" part.... sigh...
Well, whichever way you go, good luck!
Saul
