Rule 28: Dare to Compare
Tia Yates is a Legal Assistant in house for Washington Mutual Bank, the loving wife to William and a grateful Mom to four active boys ages 2-14.
Comparison is comfortable. We compare prices and nutrition labels at the grocery store. I certainly compared my babies to my friends; percentiles, sleeping habits, first words and steps. It was not a far slide into comparing myself to other moms - unfortunately with an obscured view.
I watched these "all together" women with an amazing talent for keeping it all running smoothly. Never missing the PTA meeting, always able to manage their work schedules around the school events and making adorable snacks. They were the poster moms for "having it all." I, on the other hand, felt like I was always running late, taking every shortcut I could find, and collapsing into bed at night. I didn't realize it, but comparing myself to those moms was driving how I was living. It made me very critical of myself and in turn my family.
I had always shied away from sharing too much with moms at school or other activities. I didn't want them to see that I occasionally dropped the ball in my juggling act. It was bad enough that I felt judged by the stay at home moms. I was horrified when I would forget until the last minute that it was our week to bring snack, and I had to buy something from the store! They would never serve a store-bought snack! My husband would tell me I was being irrational, but I could not help it. I was so thankful when our school district mandated store bought items for school.
When my third son came along our lives changed a little more then we expected. Eventually he would officially be labeled "developmentally delayed," but the path it took to get there, filled with specialists, and therapy appointments, sleepless nights and heavy-hearted days made me stop comparing myself to other moms. Not because I had had an epiphany. I wish. It was because I did not have the energy.
I also got to know a lot of my "pedestal" moms better. They would ask how therapy was going, or if we had attained this or that goal, and suddenly their guards were down. I learned that they had their mom at home to help keep house or bake cupcakes for them, or a part time job out of their house that allowed for more flexibility in schedule.
As things settled into life as we know it today, I realized how much more I enjoyed working the book fairs and attending the fundraising events for the kids' schools or sports. I don't kick myself if it does not all work out perfectly, and I am not able to make every single event. I love the contributions I do make because I am doing it for myself and my children now, and not because I am trying to be like someone else, or because I will feel like I am less of a mom if sometimes I can't swing it.
Today I love that I can accept myself as a good mom, and while I still catch myself measuring my birthday party planning skills to another mom's (I did once make a piñata from scratch, and I won't be doing that again), I don't let it dictate what I do, or how I feel about myself or my family.
Last week a friend in our moms group compared herself to me. I was taken aback because I had never imagined anyone doing that. I was happy to have the opportunity to share with her that I have a Mom who helps me shuttle kids around, and a babysitter who will pull out all the stops for me.
At the end of the day, we all have different energy levels, priorities, talents, and the biggest differential of all - we all have different children. Next time you feel the urge to critically compare yourself to another mom, think of three things you are great at...and remember you fit your family perfectly.

Using a slide rule for tests?
During math test where calculators are not allowed, could I use a slide rule?
There is no mention of a slide rule during these tests.
I wear a watch with a slide rule. Anyways, I can only use it for multiply, divide, and square-root.
I cant use for logs/exponents. Will I have to take that watch off?
It's a multifunction watch w/ alarms & stop watch btw.
Technically, I do not think you can use a slide rule. The reason, I suspect, that calculators are not allowed is to make sure that those taking the math test can properly do the required operations (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) the old fashioned way, which is manually.
Another probable reason is to sort of level the playing field if graphing equations will be done. Everybody will have to construct the graphs without the aid of any device.
You are probably destined to become a lawyer because you seem to have found a loophole in the instructions.

Maple Syrup - A Delightfully Interesting Treat
Maple syrup is regarded as an ordinary sweetener for breakfasts and desserts. However, most people do not know certain interesting facts about it such as the processes in producing it and its various types.
One of the most beloved ingredients included in breakfasts and snacks is maple syrup. With its rich texture and delightfully sweet taste, it has become a staple sweetener in breakfasts such as French toast, cornbread, pancakes, and waffles. Also, maple syrup has been commonly used in snacks such as ice cream, candy, and other kinds of desserts. Furthermore, a more unconventional use of maple syrup is demonstrated in its being a flavoring agent or sugar source for beer. But as you pour that sweet syrup on your bread, do you ever wonder how it is made?
Maple syrup production is indeed an interesting process, and it all starts in a sugar bush, which is a term used to describe a maple syrup farm. In this location, sugar maple trees or black maple trees are cultivated. Producers of maple syrup have chosen the two aforesaid kinds of maple trees as they contain the highest amount of sugar. Usually during February, March, and April, maple trees produce sap, which is collected by plastic pipelines that are attached to specific parts of the trees. The pipes send the maple sap to a large container, which is then transported to a sugarhouse. Once in the sugarhouse, the sap will be placed in a tank that has valves, which lead to a flat pan called an evaporator. The evaporator will boil down the sap so much that a huge amount of water in it is lost and it would turn into a syrupy substance, which is the final product. With regard to its main producers, Canada provides around 80% of the world's maple syrup, most of it made in the province of Quebec. In the United States, Vermont is the largest maple syrup producer.
Moving on, maple syrup comes in a number of grades. In Canada, maple syrup is divided into three grades, each one containing a number of classes depending on color. First is Canada #1, which includes extra light, light, and medium. Next are Canada #2 which contains amber and Canada #3 which includes dark maple syrup. In the United States, maple syrup is divided into Grade A and Grade B. Grade A is further broken down into light amber, medium amber, and dark amber. Grade B is much darker than Grade dark amber.
Lastly, looking for sources of bottled maple syrup is easy as this product is available in almost all cities. Supermarkets and grocery stores are primary sources of maple syrup. In these establishments, you can find various types, brands, and quantities of maple syrup, and some of them may even let you have a sample of a particular brand before purchasing it. On the other hand, if you plan to start a business related to maple syrup such as a pancake stand, you can find retail outlets in your city that sell maple syrup in bulk. Alternatively, you can also try to browse the Internet for online purchasing sites that sell maple syrup and deliver to your establishment or house the product you ordered.

One of my friends play in a private server, and I want to join too, but I don't want to leave regular global maple story ...is it possible to play regular maple story and in a private server on the same computer?
Yeah. Real easy, let's say that the private server that you're playing in is v62, then you just make a folder with all of v62 in it and the private server stuff. And then you make another folder with whichever version that the maple global is at. That way, when you want to play the private server, you go into that folder and open it up. And when you want to play maple global, you go into that folder and open it :]

Hi, I am a trainer. This would be an unhealthy and very temporary method to lose weight. You would likely drop weight (minus the beer) by drinking water with lemon juic and maple syrup, simply because you are creating a huge caloric deficit. Your body needs a base amount of calories just to survive, referred to as your basal metabolic rate. For a little while you may drop weight, but it will likely be water weight and possibly lean muscle mass. The weight loss would not be permanent and you risk lowering your metabolism. Meaning, if your metabolism drops, and you start eating normally again, you could potentially gain more weight in the long run if you have lowered your metabolic rate. A better and longer term method would be to create a smaller caloric deficit through a combination of healthy eating and exercise. Hope this helps!
