What amp and pedal would be best for a starting blues guitarist???For decent price?
Hi,
I just recently got my first electric guitar, a standard fender HSS stratocaster and I love to play blues and rock. Like Jimi Hendrix style music and then all the big blues guys like muddy waters and B.B. King and what not. I'm currently looking for a nice/low price pedal that would give me some great effects for a player like me. I've been looking on ebay and saw some great priced pedals like the screamin blues pedal and this one behringer blues pedal both very cheap! So that's my biggest concern for now because I don't plan on getting an amp for a month or so. Although some amp suggestions would be great also!
Thank you so much!!!
I've heard of many guitarists liking the Ibanez Tube Screamer--especially the Keeley modified version (robertkeeley.com). Of course, for a beginner, the standard Tube Screamer would be fine. I've also personally tried the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver and that was outstanding. You can also get a Keeley modified version of that and, if you've been playing a while, it'd be worth it!
For an amp, I'd highly recommend a nice Fender tube amp for those great blues tones. Maybe a 15 watt Fender Blues Jr. or something like that.
EDIT: Also keep in mind that one of the biggest mistakes a beginner guitarist makes is investing in multiple pedals instead of one great amp.
Also, the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver I mentioned is used by country guitar great, Brent Mason (might be the Keeley mod). As for the Ibanez Tube Screamer, Brad Paisley--another country guitar great--used the Keeley mod. Henry Garza, of the Los Lonely Boys, also uses a Tube Screamer, but I believe it's not the Keeley mod. Both Mason and Paisley also occasionally play the blues.

Guitar Pick Help Please?
i am going to buy some dunlop tortex picks and not sure about the thickness. i also use fender medium picks and want to know how thick the fender medium picks are because thats what size i would like to have in the dunlop picks.
tortex picks come in different sizes and i was debating between .50 and .60 which is closer to fender medium
Like these?

I'd say .73 mm (yellow) is around medium. If you look at the thickness, .73 mm is around the middle. I use those and they last longer than Fenders.

Is there a way to play an acoustic instrument such as a banjo and have the notes recorded by a computer?
My uncle is looking for a way to play his banjo while the computer automatically records the notes. Is there software that can do this without the use of a piano keyboard?
Yes, we went to a music competition and a guy who played by ear had bought a computer program to record his notes. His instructor said the student had played by ear and this competition had required the sheet music so he had played the instrument and the computer had recorded it and printed out the music.
This may not be exactly what you need, but check this out.
