Good Stratocaster for my money?
Hi,
I was wondering for those of you who know your guitars. I was looking up strats, and I saw signature strats, like EJ strats and Clapton strats, and I noticed that they seem to be more expensive than non-signature strats.
Is there a major difference between different sig strats, and are sig strats better than non-sig strats?
Or is the extra money simply for the "signature" part.
I'm not the best with this kind of stuff. What are some things I should look for in the guitars?
A Strat is a Strat especially if it is made in the USA. What is different with those specific models is because the wood ias more aged. If you would take a new Strat and play it for 25 yrs, the sound would have improved over time. So you cannot compare an old strat to a new one.
Both are of the same quality except one has been aged by playing on it. Many people don't realize that, even on a solid body, the wood vibrates just the same and THAT is what creates the tone over the years.
Now, the major difference in these STRATS is mostly in the neck. For instance, the Jeff Beck Signature series has a thinner C-shaped maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and a contoured heel for easier access to the higher registers. The other difference is the noiseless pickup on that particular model as well as stainless steel bridge etc...
On a regular Strat, the neck is standard as well as the pickups. You DO pay for the signature of the artist as well as the Tweed case instead of the regular one. that's about it.
On a Clapton Signature, it had a V-shaped neck similar to the shape of a Martin acoustic. It also has noiseless pickups.

Help with a Lefty Fender Strat neck?
I plan on buying a Fender Floyd Rose Standard Strat
Hopefully I'll get it soon and when I do I want to take the neck off and buy a lefty neck on eBay for 2 reasons
1. The neck has 22 frets
2. I like the reverse heads, it looks cool
Would bolting on a Lefty neck trash the guitar?
If it's an exact fit and doesn't require modification, refitting the strat with a new neck won't hurt it a bit. Just remember to hang on to the original if you ever decide to resell the guitar.

can i remove a strat style pickgaurd without unscrewing the pickups?
i have a strat style guitar with two humbuckers and a floyd rose. i need to remove the pickguard to install a killswitch, do i have to unscrew the picups to take it off a little bit?

fender strat good buy or bad?
Im buying a Fender American deluxe strat from a friend and hes selling it for £500 its from 1997. it has minor buckle rash on the back and the "c" is missing from stratocaster on the headstock decal because its a decal on the top of the laquor and the"c" started to peel so he cut the "c" off
do you think this is a good deal?

Hello! If the headstock decal is partially detached, the guitar has been exposed to some severe temperature changes, which could have affected the integrity of the body and neck. Look carefully for any signs of warpage or cracks. The minor buckle rash is not a big deal, but it is an indication as to how the instrument has been treated. Make sure everything is operational, both electronics and hardware. As far as the cost, $758 is a good price, but not a steal. Given that everything is fully functional and in good condition, $600 to $700 (396 to 462 pounds) would be a more appropriate amount, especially considering the current worldwide economy situation.
