Ibanez AEL10E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar?
I have a Ibanez AEL10E Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar and i'm new at playing the guitar i been playing the violin for two yrs so it can help with the guitar i got it 4 x-mas my question is that what strings to i need when they pop or something (how can i tell iwhen i have to changge them)? What are capos are they like mutes ?(what are thye use for and if i use one what would be a good one for it?)and Cleaners and Polish ?And straps and picks? And what are peg winder?
How often you change strings depends on how much you play. A professional guitarist will need to change strings once or twice a week. A casual player can usually go a couple of months on one set.
You need to use steel strings (actually, you need a type called phospor-bronze). I like to use D'Addario, but there are other good brands as well. A peg winder fits over the knob of a tuning peg, and allows you to turn it a lot faster. I've never used one, but I've got friends who like them. Like everything else, it comes down to what you prefer.
A capo is a clamp-like device used to change the key of the guitar's tuning. It fits over the fretboard, and clamps down on the strings. For example, place it just above the second fret to raise the tuning two semi-tones, i.e, instead of E-A-D-G-B-e, the guitar would now be tuned to F#-B-E-A-C#-f#.
IMHO, you don't need a cleaner or polish. Just use a soft, lint free cloth to wipe down the guitar's body and neck after playing. A strap is almost a mandatory accessory, but you really only need a basic one; should cost around $10 or so. (unless you REALLY have your heart set on that Heavy Metal death's head skull design. Only kidding.) Picks are also really cheap. In my opinion, nylon works best for acoustic playing. For a couple of dollars, you can get a pack of several picks. For a starter, can a pack with a variety of thicknesses, then try them all and decide which you like best.

which finish do you like the best on a guitar?
specifically on the Ibanez AEL20E guitar:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-AEL20E-AcousticElectric-Guitar-with-Onboard-Tuner?sku=519998
Note: Vintage Violin is yellower than picture, and Transparent Blue is darker.
I've always had a weakness for the transparent blue finishes (I've got two Ibanez hollowbodies in transparent blue), but when I was in Guitar Center shopping for an acoustic, the vintage violin finish was about the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. It was a much more yellow hue than that photo shows, I agree. It was absolutely gorgeous and I nearly bought the guitar for its looks, alone.
If it matters to you, I think the vintage violin finish will give the guitar a higher resale value than another color. You can't go wrong with a more natural color palette. That's just something I've noticed over the years I've bought and sold guitars.

Washburn WI14 - Your opinion about it?
WI14 is the cheapest of the Idol series, mine is made in China, boght it for the equivalent of 220 dollars.
If any of you has one, would you like to share your impressions about it?
I am a begginer, at a pretty late age (20+), i'm getting started to be able to reproduce pretty well various intros from artists like Guns'n'Roses, Black Sabbath, Limp Bizkit, Crematory, Nirvana... using SW processor for distorsions and other effects. I like its sound, sustain and playability, but what should i expect to not be able to get fom it ?
Thank You!
Washburn WI14 is an electric guitar, low end, but quite appreciated for its affordable quality .

Mine is blue
Leo, what you get from it is entirely dependent upon your skill level. Washburn makes a damned good guitar, period. A friend of mine and a fellow gigging guitarist owns a music store. One night before we were going to leave for some local jams, he couldn't get to his regular Baby, and decided to pick up something from the risers on display. You guessed it - he grabbed a Washburn very similar to yours and loved it. Of course, he sets up all the guitars before putting them out on the floor, and that makes a world of difference. The point here, though, is that you can look at guitars costing many times more, but many still have the basswood body, the maple bolt-on neck, and so forth. If you have the confidence that you have a good guitar at a great price, your playing may improve immediately. Go ahead, push the envelope!

Learn And Master Bass Guitar Review: Is This Bass Training Course A Gem Or A Dud?
The Learn and Master Bass Guitar Lesson DVDs are the most recent attempt by the folks at Learning Legacy Systems to produce yet another award winning guitar course. This all-video instructional program is designed to utilize a world-class bassist to teach someone with little or no experience how to play the bass in a logical, comprehensive, step-by-step way.
About The Instructor:
According the publisher, Tony Marvelli is a professional bassist and instructor. He has played bass for Mark Schultz, gospel singer Andre Couch, American Idol Finalist Mandisa, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra and many others. Mr. Marvelli comes from a diverse musical background that includes Rock, Jazz, Folk, Big Band Swing as well as old-school R&B.
The Physical Parts of The Bass Guitar Course Include:
- 3 DVDs of over 4 hours of instruction
- Downloadable Lessons support book
- Play along Jam-Tracks for learning to play with a band
- Online support for asking questions of the instructor and other bass students
The Lessons Include:
- The fundamental step-by-step basics for getting started
- Learning to read music
- Base line patterns
- Music theory
- Chords
- Scales including the pentatonic and blues scales
- Chord progressions
- Learning to play the blues
- Techniques: fast shuffles, palm muting, slow 12/8 bass, bends, pull-offs, hammer-ons, slide playing
The Negatives
This is not so much a negative as it is a tip for students that wish to view the DVDs on a laptop computer. Many laptop speakers are not designed to reproduce the sounds of the lowest of the base notes. This can result in either a garbled sound or no sound. Some of the simple solutions include; plugging a set of headphones or external speakers into the computer or playing the lessons on a DVD player connected to a standard television set.
The Positives
- This is a full video format and not just occasional short video snippets.
- The Instructor, Tony Marvelli is a full time professional bassist and teacher.
- The instructor has a distinct and easy to understand style of speaking.
- The Legacy Learning Systems Company has never produced a bad product. Every one of their training courses that I have reviewed has been well organized with top notch instructors.
- The video is well produced with clear details.
Support and Guarantee: An Online Support Community is available to each student. A 60 Day Money Back Guarantee is standard on all purchases from Legacy Learning Systems.
The Bottom Line
At this point in time the Learn and Master Bass Guitar Lesson DVDs has received my first place rating for primarily three reasons. The first reason is based on their reputation for producing superior instructional programs time after time.
The second reason is that this course is the only one that I have encountered so far where the format is all-video and not just an eBook with short little video enhancements. The difference is a huge benefit to any student.
The third and final reason is that the instructor, Tony Marvelli, is a much more successful and experienced bassist than is offered in any other bass guitar course I have seen to date.
It is important to note that this is a pre-release review and not all of the information is yet available about this program. As it becomes available I will update this review. However, I have no hesitation in recommending the Learn And Master Bass Guitar Lesson DVDs.
